“I had such an awful time buying my own wedding dress and the shop actually ended up on television on Rogue Traders,” she said.

“I thought I can do a better job than that.

“I started from scratch and I am proud of what I have achieved for myself, my family and for the town.”

The former Mirfield High School pupil set up her company after spotting a gap in the market for a service-driven wedding shop in the area.

She originally opened in King Street with less than 20 wedding and bridesmaids dresses but now stocks more than 200.

The mum-of-two said she had big plans for the business, including expanding into bespoke mother-of-the-bride designs and in-house alterations.

“Freelance fashion designer Jenny Dixon will be joining me and we will have more space for fittings,” she said.

“We will offer a one-stop-shop for bridal parties and take their ideas that they have been dreaming about and turn them into a reality.”

Mrs Moorhouse opened the doors to her new-look shop last Sunday.
