Cadet James Young, 12, of Liversedge, has been a member of the squadron for five months and urged other youngsters interested in the Royal Air Force to consider joining.

James, a pupil at Mirfield Free Grammar School, said: “I joined because I had an interest in the RAF and it looked like something I would enjoy.

“I was a little bit scared when I first joined as I didn’t know anybody but when I got to know people I made friends instantly.”

His fellow cadet and Whitcliffe Mount School pupil Joshua Dawkins has been a member of the squadron for nine months after finding out about the group on Facebook.

The squadron’s recruitment event takes place on Friday, March 11 at 7.30pm.

It will be held at the cadet’s headquarters, in Bradford Road, Liversedge.
