A MIRFIELD congregation is saying a fond farewell to its minister of the last 25 years.
The Rev Kenneth Evans and his wife Carol, pictured right, are retiring from Wellhouse Moravian Church, where Kenneth has ministered since 1984. Mr Evans, 65, has been associated with the church since he was christened there as a baby. He was confirmed there, and went to Sunday School, eventually becoming a Sunday School teacher.
He worked for the Co-op and for Ross Foods while studying part time at Northern College Manchester where he qualified to become a minister.
He was consecrated in the Moravian Church in 1984 and worked as a minister while working with Ross Foods full time.
As well as Mirfield, Kenneth has ministered in churches in Heckmondwike, Lower Wyke and Fulneck.
Church committee member Neil Saville said: "Kenneth and Carol will remain members at Wellhouse, helping out particularly at Sacramental services. We wish them a long and happy retirement."
