Apparently the club has not learnt its lesson from big-money striker-flops Andriy Schevchenko and Fernando Torres, and are supposedly in the process of polishing up a bid of £46 million for Athletico Madrid forward Falcao, after the club seemingly got bored with the idea of signing Cavani from Napoli. £200,000-a-week, he’d be earning. Speaking of Falcao, the striker has appeared on a rather long list of transfer targets for Manchester United in today’s Daily Mirror, as Fergie will probably want to tart up some of the stale corners of his squad. Robert Lewandowski, Leighton Baines, Marco Reus, Kevin Strootman and Victor Wanyama have all been mentioned, as Sir Al will be given a £50 million war-chest. Scholes, Anderson, Nani and (possibly) PSG-bound Wayne Rooney will make way.

Spurs attacker-in-chief Gareth Bale was yesterday valued at a ridiculous £100 million by Spurs, and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has today, rather sensibly, set the limit for any fee on the Welshman at £45 million.
