Football shorts: News and gossip from Huddersfield Town, Bradford City, Leeds United and more

HUDDERSFIELD Town’s Jack Hunt says he can’t wait to face his former manager Lee Clark on Saturday, adding that he owes him a huge amount.

The right-back is set for an 84th club appearance as the Terriers head to Birmingham City for the first time in 12 years.

Clark, sacked by Town last February, took over at St Andrews in the summer and is seeking a fourth Championship win.

Hunt says Town will need to be wary as they try to hit back after home defeats by Watford and Leicester City by notching a third straight win on the road.

Boss Simon Grayson will be checking the fitness of frontmen Adam Hammill and James Vaughan ahead of Saturday’s game.

Norwich loanee Vaughan has missed the last two matches with a groin injury but Grayson is hoping he will be back to lead the attack at Birmingham.

Bradford City will not rush midfielder Gary Jones back from injury before he is ready.

Jones missed the goalless draw at Rochdale this week with a sore back - it was just the second league game he has missed since February 2010.

He is unlikely to be risked at Dagenham unless he is fully recovered.

Meanwhile Neil Warnock has again paid tribute to El-Hadji Diouf’s impact at Elland Road as the forward and Leeds United head for fresh contract talks.

The Whites have been asked to review Diouf’s short-term deal amid mounting praise of the 31-year-old’s performances for the club.

Diouf’s contract – worth around £5,000 a week – runs until January and Warnock recently dismissed fears that the ex-Liverpool and Rangers player might walk away from Elland Road when he becomes a free agent in the winter transfer window.

The United manager said Diouf had given him “his word” that he would remain with Leeds for the whole of the Championship season.
