Sky Sports are getting very excited at the fact that Skybet have suspended betting on Mario Balotelli’s next club after a string of bets over the weekend which said the Italian was on his way back to Milan – this time with AC.

Italian clubs are a bit short of cash these days, and even Man City’s reserve players tend to earn squillions, so a loan move looks increasingly possible, particularly as AC balked at City’s £25 million asking price earlier in the season.

Galatasaray seem to be turning into a Champions League-QPR – after swooping for one former-star, Wesley Sneijder, the club have confirmed to the Istanbul Stock Exchange that they are after another – former Chelsea powerhouse Didier Drogba.

Something interesting in the Sunday People. Apparently Los Angeles Galaxy, famous for fielding a team which included both David Beckham and Donovan Ricketts, are after England’s golden generation.

The Californians are hoping to use the lure of David Beckham to lure ageing stars such as Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Peter Crouch to the club.

This takes me back: Nicolas Anelka has turned his back on a possible Premier League move to sign for Juventus instead.

The Italians famously tried to hijack the deal which took Anelka to Real Madrid in the summer of 1999, and nearly 14 years on, the Old Lady is still sweet on the Frenchman.

QPR and West Ham had been strongly linked with moves for the former Chelsea striker, who moved to Shanghai Shenhua last summer.

However Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has told Sky Italia that the French striker will have a medical in Turin on Monday before signing a short-term, five-month deal.

Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle has said that the club will not be rushed into a decision regarding their next manager following the sacking of Simon Grayson last week.

It was expected that former Southampton and Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins was the odds-on favourite, but rumours of Mark Hughes and Owen Coyle began to surface over the weekend, and Town’s list of potential gaffers now reads like a who’s-who of out of work managers.

Hoyle, however, told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner after Saturday’s draw against moneybags Leicester City: “((caretaker manager) Mark Lillis is an experienced football man with a real passion for this club... His presence means that we can take the nessecary time to make sure that we make the right appointment.”

With Bradford City sunning it up in Tenerife this week, and the club unlikely to do any more business in this transfer window, thoughts have turned to neighbours Leeds United and their frozen-out striker Luciano Becchio.

Leeds knocked Spurs out of the FA Cup at the weekend, and the Argentine was not involved.

United, who had been hoping to agree a new contract extension with the striker, yesterday paved the way for Becchio’s departure by admitting that he could leave if an “acceptable” bid – believed to be in excess of £2m – came in.
