George and Mead Hall to go under the hammer for £200K

An imposing 19th century building in the centre of Cleckheaton is up for auction with a guide price of £200,000.

The grade II-listed George and Mead Hall, on Parkside, will go under the hammer in an auction by property firm Eddisons next week.

The site covers almost 7,000 sq ft in total and includes the former George pub, which closed down about a year ago.

The Mead Hall at the rear has a bar area and medieval-style banquet hall on its first floor.

Announcing the auction, Eddisons said: “The George and Mead Hall in Cleckheaton town centre, which in the 19th century was an imposing hotel, has fallen into disrepair and has a guide price of £200,000-plus.”

The hall will be auctioned at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds next Thursday, April 21, along with lots including a row of three shops on Westgate in Cleckheaton.
