Gym plans for Frontier site revealed
The effects of the Batley Frontier club's farewell bash are doubtless still being felt by those who turned out for the party.
But plans for its £2m transformation into a gym may well be just what revellers need to get back into rude health.
A sprint track, the region’s largest free weights area, saunas and plenty of cardiovascular workout equipment will be on offer at the Bradford Road venue when it re-opens early next year.
JD Gyms managing director Alun Peacock said: “We’re incredibly excited to be transforming this legendary building into a low cost gym with a difference.
“We’ll be offering exceptional fitness facilities, an unrivalled class timetable, luxury surroundings and saunas in a convenient location on a highly affordable basis.
“A gym of this caliber in this area has been a long time coming and we cannot wait to open the doors early next year.
“We will honour everyone’s amazing memories from over the years and do the venue proud by turning it into the best gym for miles around.”
As well as housing hundreds of pieces of equipment, more than 250 spin classes a month will be on offer.
It will open between 6am-10pm on weekdays and 8am-8pm at the weekend.
Fifteen jobs will also be created in the run-up to the gym opening.
The final club night at the Frontier – formerly the Batley Variety Club – was held last night.
Pre-launch pricing offers for the new gym will be announced soon. To find out more, register at www.jdgyms.co.uk/batley
