Hollybank cyclists net £45k in the mountains!

The seven-strong team of cyclists took part in the Trois Etapes for the Hollybank Trust, and finished an impressive second place in the three-day hill race, raising more than £45,000.

The team, consisting of one professional and seven amateur cyclists, all from Yorkshire took part in the race, which pits 15 different charity teams against each other over the course of three mountain stages of the Tour de France.

A spokeswoman for the Hollybank Trust said: “Hollybank is delighted to have been chosen as one of the 15 charities.

“Of our team, it is true to say ‘they came, they saw and they certainly conquered’!”

The team was able to race in conditions close to those for riders in the Tour de France, with team cars, masseurs, nutritionists and race directors for each team.

Over the course of the three days the race covered many of the famous Pyrenees climbs, such as the Col Du Tourmalet, with a total of over 24,000 feet of climbing over the three days.

So far the Trois Etapes has raised more than £3m for its charities, with team Hollybank’s total currently standing at a hefty £45,713.
