Hollywood star Patrick Stewart helps out the Hollybank Trust

A HOLLYWOOD actor has taken time out from his busy filming schedule to star in a DVD promoting a Mirfield charity.

Mirfield-born Patrick Stewart, who is best known as Jean-Luc Pickard in Star Trek, has provided a voice over for the DVD promoting the work of Holly Bank School, which cares for young people and adults with profound disabilities.

And he visited the young people recently to meet the people the DVD is all about.

Head of fundraising Catherine Longley said: "Holly Bank is such a special place and is difficult to convey the extent of the work that we do. That's why we wanted to put together a DVD which will show people exactly the what we do, the special people we care for and why we desperately need their help to continue providing our services.

"It's taken years to find a suitable time and project for Patrick to help us with, and I am delighted with the results of the DVD. His visit to the trust was a really unexpected bonus, but he is welcome to come back any time."
