Inquest into death of Mirfield man
Declan Lloyd Butters, 20, of Brown Street, Mirfield, was travelling eastbound on the motorway on Tuesday, January 11, when he pulled over onto the hard shoulder near junction 30.
Coroner David Hinchcliff heard that Mr Butters had got out of his car and lifted the bonnet before stepping into oncoming traffic.

Hide AdPolice and ambulance crews were called to reports of a collision.
Coroner’s officer Neville Oughtibridge said: “The deceased managed to bring the vehicle to stop on the hard shoulder and got out and lifted the bonnet.
“For some reason he stepped into lane one and was instantly struck by an HGV.
“He was taken to the accident and emergency department at Pinderfields Hospital, where his injuries were found to be fatal and he was pronounced dead at 11.30am.”

Hide AdA post mortem examination was carried out and it revealed that Mr Butters died from head injuries.
The inquest heard that police have launched a detailed investigation and are still appealing for witnesses.
Mr Hinchcliff adjourned the hearing pending the outcome of further enquiries.
