Reporter Joe Cooper is taking part in the Brian Robinson Challenge on Sunday to raise cash for our year-long appeal.

“It’s pretty daunting to be taking on a 75 mile bike ride,” he said. “I’m excited but expect to be exhausted by the end. It would be great to get some sponsorship to keep me going when I’m starting to get tired and the finish line still seems a long way off.”

Media sales consultant Russ Cowling competed in the World Coal Carrying Championships in Gawthorpe last month, running a mile while carrying a 50kg sack of coal.

He will join reporters Jamie Presland and Georgina Morris at the start line of the Leeds 10k in July.

Sports journalist Jamie will also run the Yorkshire Marathon in October.
