The gold-medal winner led a masterclass of 12 schoolchildren aided by 21-year-old Olympic springboarder Hannah Starling.

The 56-year-old sportsman, who won a gold and bronze at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, gave the children tips on how to eat healthily and keep fit.

Lisa Naylor, 24, aquatics manager, said the Sport Relief event helped in the sports centre’s mission to support the local community and help encourage people into sport and activities at a young age.

“The children were really excited and happy. They seemed very enthusiastic about being in the pool with Duncan,” she said.

Duncan brought along his Olympic gold medal to show the children, who attend Fulneck School in Pudsey.

Sport Relief holds events around the country and raises money for causes in the UK and abroad including homeless charities and domestic abuse charities
