Lady Heton plans resubmitted to Kirklees Council

Ben Bailey Homes originally had plans to build 34 homes on land near Lady Heton Drive passed by Kirklees Councillors on the Heavy Woollen planning sub-committee.

However, after crisis talks between the Lady Heton Action Group and Kirklees Council’s chief executive Adrian Lythgo last month, the developers have now resubmitted their application to planners.

The new plans are for 32 homes, rather than the original 34, and action group member Phil Titchmarsh said the group would meet tonight to discuss the new plans.

The group had argued the plans were in breach of council planning guideline BE12, which states that facing houses should be at least 21 metres apart.

Mr Titchmarsh added: “There is a significant improvement in the new plans, for example, they have done away with the row of terraces, which would not be in keeping with the surrounding area.

“But the plans are still substantially in breach of BE12.

“The group will decide its stance on the matter at the meeting on Friday.”

The plans are expected to go back to committee on July 10, where councillors will decide whether to give the company the green light to build.

The updated plans can be viewed on Kirklees Council’s planning website, by typing application number 2013/62/93430/E into the search.
