DISABLED passengers travelling on the busy Mirfield to Dewsbury 205 route can be sure of an easier ride, thanks to a Mirfield bus company.
For J J Longstaffs and Sons Ltd have recently taken delivery of two Volvo B7RLE buses from Volvo Bus based at Warwick, with both having a seating capacity of 43 plus wheelchair space.
A manually-operated ramp is fitted to each vehicle to make access easier for disabled passengers.
Established in 1925, John James Longstaff converted a wagon into a charabanc to ensure local people were able to get to work during a tram strike.
The company was soon running a regular service between Mirfield and Dewsbury. Now 78 years on, the firm is still owned by the Longstaff family and operates the same route.
Longstaffs also have four coaches in their fleet and offer private hire, holidays and short break weekends in the UK and Europe while day excursions operate throughout the year.
