A PLAN to demolish a valued playground will be discussed by town councillors on Wednesday.
The planning application which would remove the playground from the bottom of Newgate, Lower Hopton, has been deferred to a meeting of Mirfield Town Council’s plans and environment committee. The playground is regularly used by pupils of nearby Lower Hopton Primary School.
There were tears when pupils saw equipment being removed and signs saying the park was closed as they walked to school.
The meeting will be held at the town council offices, 198 Huddersfield Road, at 7.30pm on Wednesday. Coun Martyn Bolt urged members of the public to attend.
