M62 to close this weekend

The motorway will be closed between J27 at Gildersome and J28 at Tingley from 8pm tomorrow to 9am on Sunday, and 8pm next Saturday to 8am next Sunday.

The closure will allow work on the managed motorway scheme to take place.

The scheme aims to cut congestion, make journey times more reliable and improve safety through the use of different speed limits and opening the hard shoulder as an extra lane.

During this and next weekend’s closures, 65m gantries spanning the width of the road will be installed.

A clearly signed diversion route will operate via the A650.
