Man rushed to hospital after wall collapses in Mirfield

A man working on a building under renovation has been rushed to hospital after a wall collapsed.

The man was working with others on the empty building in Knowl Road in Mirfield early today (Wednesday).

It is understood they were replacing part of the building’s structure when a wall collapsed.

The man fell from the ground floor into the basement and part of the wall fell on him.

A co-worker ran to the fire station in Mirfield to alert the crew at around 3.30pm.

Firefighters from Dewsbury and Cleckheaton also went to the scene.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew treated the man at the scene.

A Mirfield fire fighter said the man was breathing and talking to the paramedics.

He said the man was taken to hospital but did not know what injuries he had suffered.
