Save Mirfield are opposed to a 137 home development on the Balderstone Hall fields near Crossley Fields Junior and Infant School and 164 homes planned for Mirfield Moor.

The group successfully fought off a planned development by Bellway Homes for the Balderstone Hall fields more than a decade ago.

Chairman of Save Mirfield, Cheryl Tyler, said: “Everyone who lives in Mirfield already knows too well that our roads and infrastructure are already struggling to cope with the needs of residents in the town and these new developments are simply the last straw.

“Mirfield is a pleasant place to live with a semi-rural setting and we want to keep it that way. Save Mirfield is not against all new developments but we do not want unsustainable, unnecessary developments when there are brown field and other unused sites available, and we do not want developers jumping on a bandwagon created by failures at Kirklees Metropolitan Council.”

The meeting begins at 7.45pm on Wednesday January 8, where residents will be able to speak to a professional planning consultant about their concerns.
