CHRIST THE KING - At last Sunday’s service we welcomed the family and friends of Willow Evangeline Riley as they brought her to church for her Baptism. It was wonderful to see the church full of people supporting this child in the start of her journey in the life of Christ. Sunday afternoon saw the anniversary service of 25 years of the Wakefield-Mara Link, in Wakefield Cathedral. Tuesday saw the UK Premier of I-Way the movie, on Wednesday, The Extra Mile focussed on Rembrandt’s painting The Prodigal Son, and on Thursday, the funeral of Margaret Banks took place.

DEWSBURY AND DISTRICT RAMBLERS - On Wednesday 17, 31 members walked from Bickerton to Hunsingore via Cawthorpe. This was a circular walk of five-and-a-half miles featuring pastures, woodland and riverside and interesting churches. Amy Lynch and Tessa Thompson led. On Saturday 20, 15 walkers set off from Thorner near Leeds and did a seven-and-half-mile walk. The walk went through field paths and woodland to the beautiful village of Bardsey where the walkers stopped for sandwiches before continuing back to Thorner. Maureen and Norman Dewhirst led. On Sunday 21, 11 members walked 11 miles starting off at Downham, taking in Pendle Hill and Barley village. David Lodge was the leader. Sunday: Hayfield and Kinder. This is a B-walk. Please meet at Wellington Road car park, Dewsbury at 8.30am. Stuart Gledhill is the leader. Wednesday: Harewood round. This is a C-walk. Please park off the A61 before Harewood. Maureen and Norman Dewhirst will lead.
