MP takes part in Macmillan suppor bus visit to Batley

The Batley and Spenborough MP met the team from Macmillan Cancer Support to see how the service is helping local people affected by cancer.

The Macmillan Mobile Information and Support Service visits towns, cities and workplaces around the UK, offering free, confidential information and support about cancer.

Amanda Fry, from the service, said: “There are now an estimated two-and-a-half million people living with cancer in the UK, which is an increase of almost half a million in five years.

“The Macmillan Mobile Information and Support Service aims to help anyone with questions about cancer.

“People can drop in, talk to our cancer information specialists or simply pick up some booklets.

“It was great to be back in Batley to provide this support, and to welcome Jo Cox MP on board to be able to share the work we’re doing helping people in her constituency.”

Jo Cox said: “This is a great initiative by Macmillan and I am very pleased to support the important and valuable work they do.

“I was delighted to meet up with the team when they came to Batley and to see so many local people popping in for information and advice.”
