Mirfield Town Council has filled the last of its vacancies after welcoming Steph Harding as a member.
Councillors voted in to appoint her at the start of their meeting on Tuesday.
Coun Harding is manager at the Mirfield practice of TaxAssist Accountants and helps organise Business Bistro events in the town.
She has served as chairwoman of Crowlees Parents and Staff Association previously, and supports the school’s Crowlees Hopper walking bus.
Coun Harding (Ind) said: “I’m not a particularly political person and it’s not really my comfort zone, but I’m aware that organisations are having to do more with less and the vacancy had been there for a long time.
“In my line of work and running a business, I’ve got some skills that I think can contribute.
“It’s about lending a hand really.”
Four councillors voted in favour of the appointment, two voted against and four abstained.
The town council will meet next on July 23, 7.30pm.
