The school has always maintained a position of sympathy towards the valid concerns of Earlsheaton residents and is supportive of their campaign to move the access road. We have never sought a maintenance of the status quo; in fact, we have always advocated a ‘third way’ solution to Yorkshire Water. For this reason, it is rather unsporting to make judgements about the suitability of the access road near our school without a fuller understanding of our area.

We would recommend that any concerned Earlsheaton residents get in touch with us and we would be more then happy to welcome them to our site, to see the school and judge for themselves the 200 reasons (one for every child attending our school) why we are opposing Yorkshire Water’s plans.

The building in which the school is situated was purchased by Paradise Primary School before much of the existing industrial area built up around it over the last five years. It has had planning approval for use as an educational institute since much earlier when it was used by the Sea Cadets. The truth of the matter is that we are located near a light industrial area with an acceptable level of traffic. The extra volumes of the much heavier wagons used by Yorkshire Water would entail intolerable risks.

We would also like to make it clear that we do not have our own car park.

We hope this will help to allay any misunderstanding residents in Earlsheaton may have and that they will desist from turning their commendable campaign against the existing Yorkshire Water access road into one blaming Paradise Primary School and the residents of Dewsbury South. We feel the focus should be the failure of Yorkshire Water to come up with a feasible solution which would resolve the concerns of Earlsheaton residents whilst ensuring the problem is not transferred to other Dewsbury residents.
