Community rallies round

THANKS to all who have so far donated to the Help for Heroes £100,000 Battle Back appeal, a target that was set by the Mirfield Battle Back Committee for a new rehabilitation centre at Catterick Garrison, Yorkshire.

We are working hard organising fundraising events, one of which is the Battle Back Ball to be held at the Royal Armouries at the end of April.

Last week, we held a 70s and 80s night at the Old Colonial which was a success. Earlier in the week, the 8th Mirfield Scouts held a Mirfield’s Got Talent night at the Parish Hall and raised £315. They also gave £130 from a fundraising night at the Old Colonial before that. It’s been a very good effort from 8th Mirfield.

Other donations and gifts are coming in and it is good to see Mirfield as a community responding as they always do. Tickets for the Battle Back Ball are still available. Other fundraising events are being planned for the near future including the popular curry and quiz night, hog roast and a special Help for Heroes beer festival to name just a few. If anyone wishes to call in and make a donation we would be very grateful for it, however small. Any cheques should be made out to Battle Back Ball, which is our registered fundraising name for Mirfield for Help for Heroes.
