On the road to better grammar

Just been reading last week’s Spenborough Guardian and on page 45 there is an advert for “The New 6 Lane Ends Public House”.

However the name is grammatically wrong, and so is the council road sign adjacent/near the entrance to the pub car park.

It should be “Six Lanes End” – where six lanes meet.

Now there are only five at this busy crossroads as one of the roads, due to road safety, was altered several years ago into Leeds Old Road.

People have become lazy in their speech, hence the incorrect spelling.
