Strata Homes Ltd is asking local residents what they think about plans for 203 family homes on land off Westgate.

The site has been allocated for “mixed use” in the Kirklees Local Plan and the principle of development is already established.

Planning and development consultants Johnson Mowat said Strata intended to submit a full planning application to Kirklees Council in due course.

In the consultation, both online and outlined in a leaflet delivered to local residents, the housing is said to be “much needed.”

Around 30% of the new houses will be what they describe as “affordable homes.”

On the estate there will be an extensive area of public open space and a “green corridor” to the centre of the site.
