"I am incredibly grateful for the efforts of NHS staff, care workers and other key workers who have and continue to carry out their duties tirelessly and with great courage.

"The virus has had a significant impact on the country's social and economic life, and I would like to thank the people of Dewsbury for the great spirit they have shown in adapting to the restrictions that have been put in place to save lives.

"Moving forward, we have much reason to be optimistic thanks to the excellent progress being made with the vaccine roll-out and the Prime Minister's cautious roadmap to ease restrictions once and for all.

"However, we must continue our efforts to control the virus to save lives and prevent more loss.

"We will never forget the victims of this pandemic."
