PPG volunteers take a shot at decoration

Employees from PPG Architectural Coatings completed the week-long spruce-up of Bradley Wood Scout Campsite and Activity Centre in Brighouse.

The team tore off the facility’s old roof, replaced it with a new one and painted the structure, mounts and fencing.

Volunteers also re-vamped the rifle targets, laid gravel walkways and wood chippings around the main hut, as well as clearing weeds.

The centre was selected for the makeover as part of the company’s community engagement scheme.

PPG staff are encouraged to nominate projects close to the company’s head office in Huddersfield Road, Birstall.

The Bradley Wood facility felt suitable after a similar refurbishment of its archery hut last year.

General manager of Bradley Wood, Peter Whitworth, said: “The work carried out by PPG ensures that more than 30,000 children from across the region can now enjoy recreational shooting in a clean, dry environment.

“The transformation in just one week has been incredible and we can’t wait to start welcoming visitors to the new-look facility.”

Earlier this year, a team of 38 from PPG brightened up the inside of the Norristhorpe United Reform Church in Liversedge, spending a combined 250 hours of their time.

PPG’s leading brand, Johnstone’s Trade, was used to paint the range.
