Pre-school is '˜outstanding' once again

Wellhouse Pre-School in Mirfield has achieved the watchdog’s highest rating after inspectors visited in early February.

Inspector Andrew Clark praised staff’s ambition and said the Wellhouse Lane school provides an “extremely caring environment” for its tots.

A previous report in 2012 found that the pre-school was outstanding then too.

Mr Clark wrote that manager Tracey Morn is “highly ambitious for the success of the pre-school.”

He added that she “has an extremely clear vision andsense of purpose and sets an excellent example to others.

“Parents value the warm welcome and care their children receive and the impact staff have on their children’s achievements.

“Children learn to try their very best and to take pride in their work.

“Staff have a very goodknowledge of children’s different learning and development needs, including disabled children and those with special educational needs.

“Activities are very carefully planned to help children of all abilities make rapid progress in their learning.”

The report notes that the youngsters are healthy, friendly and well-behaved. “Children form strong bonds with staff, who provide excellent role models for them to follow,” wrote Mr Clark.

Children are also kept safe through effective safeguarding arrangements.

The report reads: “Staff give a high priority tokeeping children safe and ensuring they are well protected. Children who choose to be outside learn how to play safely among the trees, bridges and plants of the natural wild area.”
