Remember, remember bonfire night!

REMEMBER, Remember the fifth of November - and enjoy spectacular fireworks which will be lighting up the skies across North Kirklees.

With more and more pubs, clubs and community organisations opting for weekend events rather than on just Guy Fawkes night, the celebrations now run over several days.

Many events are planned across Dewsbury, Mirfield, Batley, Birstall and the Spen Valley and here are just a few that you can pop along to.

NOVEMBER 5

Bonfire night presented by the Black Bull pub and St Peter's Church in Kirkgate, Birstall. Bonfire lit at the church from 6pm, fireworks start at 7pm. Refreshements available.

Bonfire party at the Old Pack Horse, Halifax Road, Cleckheaton .

NOVEMBER 7

Bonfire night spectacular at the Lakeside Restaurant, Ponderosa Park, Smithies Lane, Heckmondwike. Fireworks and pie and peas supper, from 6pm. 3 per person.

Mirfield Round Table bonfire and firework spectacular at the Mirfield Agricultural Society showground in Huddersfield Road, Mirfield. Gates open 5.30pm, the fire will be lit at 6.30pm and the firework display will start around 7pm. Hot food and drinks plus fairground rides and games. Proceeds to local charities. Admission 3 adults, children and OAPs 1.

Old Colonial Club bonfire and fireworks display, in aid of Mirfield cadets. From 6pm, Dunbottle Lane, Mirfield. Tickets are 3 for adults and 2 for children under 12, including food.

Hartshead Moor Cricket Club, Highmoor Lane, Hartshead Moor, bonfire and firework display with pie and pea supper, 6.30pm.

Ship Inn, Steanard Lane, Mirfield, bonfire and firework display with hog roast; entry 2, under 10s free.
