Roberttown cyclists host charity ride
Roberttown Community Centre hosted the ride seven-mile ride, on Saturday September 27, which began at the Headlands Road entrance to the Spen Valley Greenway.
Richard Bamforth, from the community centre, said: “With all the cuts in emergency services and if an ambulance is a long way away a defibrillator really can save someone’s life in an emergency.”

Richard said: “It’s nice to see people on their bikes. “With all the excitement surrounding the Tour de France there seems to be a lot more of an interest in cycling and the greenway is a safe way to cycle without any traffic around.”
Tesco, Cleckheaton, and Morrison’s, Heckmondwike, threw their support behind the ride and provided refreshments for the participants.
Roberttown Community Centre is holding a coffee morning on November 1, 1pm-3pm, to collect sponsorship money and raise more funds.
