Daniel Collett opened Collett’s Salon, in Belle Vue Street, last month and decorated the walls with photos of Collett’s Second Hand Furniture.

Daniel’s uncle, Cyril Collett, owned the shop in Healey Lane, which was a hot spot for shoppers during the sixties and seventies.

He said: “We thought it would be nice to share pictures of the family. It is nice to carry on the tradition.”

Collett’s Furniture sold items collected from the homes of locals who had died.

Daniel said: “I remember going with Cyril and we’d take everything from the bed, furniture and even pianos.

“He would collect anything. I am always asked if I am related to him because the shop was so well known.”
