The Safe Anchor Trust invited the jolly hero to Shepley Marina Bridge where he spent five days in his grotto talking to more than 400 children about their wishlists.

The trusts’s volunteers even got into the festive spirit by dressing up and singing carols with the children.

Meanwhile, families took to the water on Saturday and Sunday for a canal ride before meeting Father Christmas.

Don Wilkinson, trustee of the trust, said: “It went very well, the children all had a marvellous time.

“We carried more than 350 passengers across the two days - we could not have taken anymore than we did.

“The weather really helped.”

All the money raised by the Safe Anchor Trust, which is a registered charity, was used to buy the presents for each of the children who met Santa.

The award-winning trust was established in 1995 , has four boat and runs canal trips largely for special needs groups.
