A governor of Birkenshaw Primary School has retired after eight years.

Pat Clough, 76, of Whitehall Road, was involved whenthe original Birkenshaw C.E. First School and the County First School merged in 1995, and when it later changedto a full primary in 2012.

She first became a governor through the LEA, but in recent years has been a foundation governor.

Pat said she has loved her time with the school – and has lived in the village since she was two.

“We were loved and respected in those days and if we can give that to these children, what better start could they have?” Pat said.

Vicar of St Paul’s Church, Birkenshaw, the Rev Danny Walker, said: “Through all her years of dedicated service, she really has been unstinting in the time and contribution she’s given to the school.”
