Shoppers entertained

SHOPPERS donated hundreds of pounds to a music school as its resident oompah band played.

The band, You Shall Not Brass, is made up of pupils from Kirklees Music School’s Dewsbury/Mirfield Music Centre.

They performed for customers at the Co-op supermarket in Huddersfield Road, Mirfield. Other pupils packed bags at the tills and collected £455 in donations.

You Shall Not Brass played a range of songs, from traditional Bavarian music to modern pop hits including Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.

The money raised will be used to pay for instruments, sheet music and subsidised trips for the musicians.

The Music Centre meets at The Mirfield Free Grammar school in Kitson Hill Road on Fridays.
