Reporters Mike Muncaster, Joe Cooper and Richard Beecham are hoping to show that they are not just good for their interviewing skills, but they can also hold their own on the pitch - as they prepare for the Reporter Series five-a-side football tournament.

The Reporter Series Fund was set up to help raise money for four charities: Asthma UK, Kirkwood Hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and the One Community Foundation.

Our reporter team, ‘Press-gang North End’, will be joined by teams from across the district at the event next month - and there’s still time to register to take part.

Fresh from a bumper session of kick-ups, Mike Muncaster said: “I like to think I have the striking skills of a prime Paul Furlong.

“With the football season back, everyone in the office is itching to play and I’m looking forward to playing and hopefully to raise some cash too.”

Overhead-kick specialist Joe Cooper, who has already completed a cycle challenge and run for the Fund, added: “I’m really looking forward to the tournament.

“I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve done for the fund so far - it’s certainly keeping me fit!”

Facilities at Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre, Cleckheaton were kindly donated for the tournament by Kirklees Active Leisure.

The event takes place on Sunday September 29 from 2pm-5pm.
