Stewart honoured

MIRFIELD'S own Hollywood star Patrick Stewart has won an award for his theatre portrayal of Macbeth.

Famed for his TV and film work in Star Trek and X-Men, Patrick won the award for best performance in a play at the 2007 TMA Theatre Awards last Sunday. Patrick, who was born in Camm Lane in 1940, is a former journalist with the Mirfield Reporter but he quit to follow his acting career after just a year.

The play is currently showing at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
