Sun shines on Starlites fundraiser

Sunshine and bouncy castles made for a cash-boosting fun day for an Earlsheaton majorette troupe.

The Earlsheaton Starlites hosted a fundraising fun day at the Commercial Inn on August 26.

The event included craft stalls, face painting, tombolas and a bouncy castle.

Julia Roberts, one of the fundraisers said the event, which made £330, was “brilliant.”

“It was lovely hot day and we had tons of support,” she said.

The dance troupe, aged between 2-18 take part in competitions and fundraising activities throughout the year.

It is heavily reliant upon donations as the dance lessons for the members are free of charge.

Julia said: “It’s a great way to get children to exercise, build their self-esteem and keep them away from any trouble.”

“Dance lessons and the equipment needed such as the batons and the uniforms are a very expensive and a lot of the parents cannot afford them.”
