Tilly’s charity gesture is a cut above
Tilly Heywood, from Batley, also donated her long locks to The Little Princess Trust so it can be made into a wig for a child who has lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
She visited the college’s Sanctuary Salon in Huddersfield to have her long hair cut off.

Hide AdTilly’s sister Alice Heywood, 18, who studies hairdressing cut off her ponytail and then fellow student Trish Sheard gave her a new look by creating a neat cropped style.
Alice said: “Tilly had got quite sick of her hair being so long. A friend suggested she donate her hair to the charity which she thought was a great idea.
“Trish offered to cut her hair because Tilly wouldn’t be patient enough to let me do it!”
The family has raised over £500 for the charity – including £70 which was collected at Kirklees College on the day.
