Tributes paid to man killed by caravan

Tributes have been paid to a barman who died after he was trapped under a caravan in Gomersal.

Dominic Goddard was killed in an accident in Church Lane at around 1.30am on Friday.

Mr Goddard is believed to have left a nearby house party with his girlfriend when he was knocked down and became trapped under a caravan which was being towed at the time.

Fire crews from Cleckheaton, Batley and Dewsbury worked to release Mr Goddard, thought to be in his 20s, but he died at the scene.

Police said it was unlikely anybody would be arrested in connection with the incident.

Tributes have poured in for Mr Goddard who worked at The George pub in Cleckheaton.

The pub posted a message of condolence on its Facebook page.

It said: “It is with deep regret that we need to announce that one of our longest serving members of staff, Dom Goddard, passed away this morning.

“Our thoughts are with his brother and his family at this time.”

Friends and colleagues have also paid tribute to Mr Goddard.

Reanne Smith said: “RIP Dom Goddard. Still in shock. Thank you for all the amazing memories and years together. Will be thinking of you always.”

Carole Lavery-Maud added: “Great guy, such sad news. Thinking of those he left behind with deepest sympathy. You will be missed.”

Mr Goddard’s family and friends left flowers at the roadside where he died.
