The short video features volunteers who say the experience has helped improve their mental health and been useful in helping them in their chosen career.

The film has been funded by the Arts Council as part of the Sustainable Collections project, which is about working with partners, friends groups and volunteers to increase access to the museum collections.

Over 8,247 volunteer hours are given to Kirklees museums and galleries every year, and there are around 50 volunteers and friends across its sites.

The longest serving volunteer is at Oakwell Hall and has been volunteering for over 12 years.

Councillor Graham Turner, Portfolio Holder for Resources said: “Volunteers play an important role in supporting our museums and galleries.

“This film is testament to the commitment and passion of our volunteers and friends organisations. For anyone thinking of donating their time and skills, the film demonstrates how volunteering at our cultural settings can provide a stimulating and rewarding experience.
