13-mile queue as big freeze brings travel misery to Yorkshire
MOTORISTS faced a nightmare commute this morning, with sub-zero temperatures and a spate of accidents and breakdowns bringing traffic to a standstill on two of Yorkshire's main routes.
On the A1(M) , there was queuing traffic for 13 miles and long delays at the M18, junction 35, because of an earlier broken down vehicle. All lanes have been re-opened, but travel time through the roundabout is over an hour.
There is also congestion on the southbound A1 to Wentbridge South.
In West Yorkshire, there is queuing traffic on the M1 northbound between J42, the M62 at Lofthouse, and J43, the M621 at Leeds, because of an accident involving two cars and a rolling road-block.
Further south on the M1, one lane is closed and there is slow traffic northbound between junction 30, the A616 at Worksop, and J31, the A57 at Sheffield, because of an accident.
