Weekend GP appointments available for winter
NHS services in North Kirklees have invested an extra £300,00 to meet the requirement for winter GP appointments.
North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group will make it possible for patients to book appointments for Saturday and Sunday mornings from October 18.
Dr Stuart Lawson, a Batley GP and Curo Health chairman, said: “Weekend appointments are a welcome addition to our primary care services. We recognise that patients may need to access health care services urgently during the winter months but it is not always appropriate for them to go to accident and emergency. We hope that this will go some way to relieving the pressure on the emergency departments of our local hospitals.”
The new service can be accessed by calling 01924 351499 between 8am-11am on a weekend.
