Wheelie bin fire ‘could have been far worse’
A wheelie bin fire spread to conifers and melted a wendy house.
Firefighters from Cleckheaton were called to Ings Road, Heckmondwike at around 1.30am on Saturday.
Andy Greenwood, watch commander at Cleckheaton Fire Station, said: “It was very lucky that somebody saw the wheelie bin on fire because there were cars parked next to it. It could have been a far worse situation.
“The effects of wheelie bin fires can be far reaching for people who live nearby.”
No-one was injured in the incident.
