Woman burnt with iron by armed gang in raid on house

Armed police were sent to a house in Lees Hall Road on Wednesday (7) after reports of a woman being robbed. It happened at around 10.40pm.

During the 20 minute ordeal, the woman, 43, was tied up and burnt with an iron. The gang fled with £200 cash and her mobile phone, locking her in as they went.

Det Insp Ian Thornes, of Kirklees CID, said: “This was a targeted attack on a woman in her own home. She was shaken but otherwise not seriously injured and has been interviewed by specially-trained officers.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the three males either entering the property or earlier that day checking out the property when the woman was not at home.

“We are also urging people to contact us about vehicles which may have been in the vicinity.”

The suspect who was carrying the gun is described as white, aged 16-17 years, of slim build, 5ft 4in tall, wearing a black balaclava and black coat.

The gun is described as a silver hand gun with a five to six inch barrel.

The second suspect, who appeared in charge, is described as an Asian man, aged about 26, 5ft 6in tall and wearing a black coat and black hood.

The third man is described as about 16 or 17, 5ft 4in tall, skinny and was also wearing dark clothing.
