A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after being hit by a bin wagon in Thornhill.

The circumstances are still unclear, but it is the thought the woman slipped on ice.

Police were called to Smithy Parade at around 9.20am today by paramedics who treated the 20-year-old.

She was taken to hospital with slight leg injuries.

A police spokeswoman said officers were looking into exactly what had happened.

Meanwhile, Kirklees Council has suspended its bin collections.

A spokeswoman said all vehicles had been recalled because of the ice.

Bin collections missed today will be made tomorrow or Monday.
