Soroptimist International of Dewsbury & District is backing the British Heart Foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal to fund new and potentially lifesaving research. President Janet Brown chose to support the charity and organised a week-long fundraiser at The Mill in Bradford Road.

Staff at the Batley retail outlet dressed up in red to support the Mending Broken Hearts campaign, and helped raise £1,272.28. Mrs Brown said: “I can’t thank the staff enough. It was a fantastic week. Retailers at The Mill donated some amazing prizes for the tombola, while staff spent time and resources dressing up the till points and escalators. I was bowled over by the real community spirit in the centre and the enthusiasm of all the staff.”

Member Eileen Hartley added: “The generosity of the public and the staff at The Mill was really appreciated.”
