The Bradford Road park has undergone a £167,000 makeover, which includes a separate bowlers’ room and a café kitchen.

The refurbishment will also feature a multi-use seating area and new public toilets.

The restructure of the building is expected to be completed this month.

This will allow the café lease holder to fit out the kitchen in time for the summer holidays.

The toilets will also be open for the public to use when the café is open for business.

A Kirklees Council spokesperson said: “The popular pavilion needed updating as some areas were dilapidated and inaccessible and there were no public toilets or inside eating and seating space for the cafe.

“Temporary accommodation has been made for the bowling teams to use while the new building is completed and the former operator of the café has been using a mobile catering unit to serve public refreshments.

“The refurbished building includes vandal-proof robust roofing, low volume toilet cisterns with dual flush, self-closing taps for hand basins and low energy light fittings.”
