Would-be nudist sentenced for child porn

Shaun Brown, 44, said he found the images by accident while searching for pornography featuring women aged between 18 and 30.

Police searched his home after officers found that his family computer had been used to visit buildarecipe.co.uk.

The website had been hacked and filled with child pornography, Kirklees Magistrates’ Court was told today (Thursday).

James Weeks, prosecuting, said police seized Brown’s computer and found 601 images graded at level one and one more serious image graded at level three.

Brown was interviewed by police and said he found the indecent images accidentally while searching for adult pornography.

He said he would close any images of children when they appeared. He was then questioned about nudist images he had downloaded.

Mr Weeks said: “He said he was interested in the nudist lifestyle but was too embarrassed to practice it.

“Of the 601 level one images, 263 images were not from recognised nudist websites.”

Brown, of Jill Lane, Mirfield, pleaded guilty to 12 counts of making indecent images of children at an earlier hearing.

Zahid Majeed, mitigating, said: “It is quite clear that Mr Brown’s actions have a repercussion on his personal circumstances.

“The job has been lost. You will appreciate the element of trust and disappointment in the family and all of that bears upon the mind of Mr Brown.”

District Judge Michael Hopkinson sentenced Brown to a three-year supervised community order with a 60-day activity requirement.

He said: “I understand that you access the images purely in your own home. You did not distribute them to any other person and did no networking with any other person.

“It was purely for your own personal gratification as part of a problem you have with pornography.”

Brown must sign the sex offenders’ register for five years, pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge. His computer has been forfeited.
