You said: “They do!”

A Birstall barber and her brickie boyfriend will finally be able to tie the knot after winning our Wedding of the Year competition.

Adele Galbraith and Mitchell Blockley got together three and a half years ago when a mutual friend decided to play matchmaker down at their local pub.

Two years later Mitchell, 23, proposed on the banks of Lake Windermere straight after he and Adele, 27, had completed a 21-mile charity row.

But when Adele became pregnant with their daughter, Summer Savannah, now 14 weeks old, they put their wedding plans on hold to save money for the new arrival.

Adele entered our competition after spotting it in the Batley & Birstall News, which she picks up for her customers at Barbers of Birstall on Low Lane.

“I entered it quite off-hand, but I didn’t expect much to come of it,” she said.

But now she and Mitch, who live in Alverthorpe, can have the wedding they’ve been waiting for at the Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield in March.

“I really don’t know what to say, so I’ll just keep saying ‘unbelievable’,” she said. “I’m shaking like a leaf. I feel absolutely amazing. It’s quite unbelievable.”
